John has tabled a parliamentary motion congratulating Inverness Harrier’s runner, Jamie Bowie, after he won a World Indoor Silver medal as part of the Great Britain 4×400 metre relay.
Jamie is the first north athlete to win a medal at this level of competition and is currently training to qualify for the Common Wealth Games in Glasgow.
Speaking after his win in Poland at the weekend, John said;
“This is a great personal achievement for Jamie and it’s great to see his hard work and sacrifice paying off on the world stage.
“He is no doubt a huge inspiration to budding young athletes in the north and I wish him well in his bid to qualify for Glasgow and hope to see him win a medal in July.”
The text of John’s motion reads
